What we collect, why, and the choices you have.

We measure readership with first-party, cookie-less analytics. We record the page viewed, referring site, device type, browser and approximate country. We do not store IP addresses; a daily-rotating, salted hash lets us count unique visitors without identifying you. If enabled, third-party analytics (such as Google Analytics) may set their own cookies under their own policies.
If you subscribe, we store your email address (and name, if provided) and the page you signed up from. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email. We do not sell your email address.
Messages and tips you send are stored securely and only accessible to our editorial staff. You may submit tips without providing your name or email. Contact form messages are also delivered to our inbox by email through Web3Forms, our form delivery provider. The content of tips is not sent through that provider.
If you turn on alerts, we store the push address your browser gives us for your device. It doesn’t include your name or email, and turning off alerts deletes it.
If advertising is enabled, ad partners may use cookies to deliver and measure ads, subject to their own privacy policies.
